Associate Professor John Eden is a gynaecologist and reproductive endocrinologist (a specialist in women’s hormones). His research interests include managing menopause after breast cancer, polycystic ovarian syndrome, osteoporosis, hormone replacement therapy and herbal medicine. He has authored over 100 scientific papers and two books.

Professor Eden trained initially in Australia, and then undertook specialist training and embarked on his research career in the UK at Charing Cross Hospital, London. He became a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) in 1988 and was amongst the first group of specialists to be accredited as a reproductive endocrinologist, after obtaining CREI Fellowship (Certification in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility). He also has a research degree from UNSW on the subject of the control of ovarian function.

In 1996 Professor Eden was awarded Associate Professor of Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of New South Wales for his contribution and leadership in teaching, advanced research, mentoring and assessment of students in his field.
